I'm quite perturbed right now...




It seems that my favorite radio station of all time (97.5 The Hawk, WTHK Trenton/Philadelphia) has been treated like a mere token and was sold/traded to another broadcasting conglomerate, then immediately shut down. Right now 102.9 MGK is being simulcasted over the old Hawk frequency, but at 6:00 PM EST tonight that will change. My beloved classic rock station then becomes WJJZ, a "smooth jazz" (ie: Weather Channel/porn music) station.




The worst part is that they duped The Free Beer and Hot Wings Morning Show. I really do sympathize for them... that's just plain wrong to do that to such a fine group of gentlemen.




The part I really don't get is this: why a 'smooth jazz' station? Last time I checked, I never heard anyone groveling about the lack of a 'smooth jazz' station in this market. The Nassau Broadcasting Press Release on this matter downright pisses me off with it's BS. Here's a quote from the press release:




“With just two days until we launch Smooth Jazz WJJZ at its new address at 97.5, there's an incredible level of excitement in Philadelphia again,” said Michael Tozzi, WJJZ Program Director. “We can’t wait to get started.”




Alright, that does it... 'smooth jazz' does not bring "an incredible level of excitement" to a city of over 1.5 million people. The only things that do that are sports championships.

Never knew the Hawk was getting owned. I knew it switched station with PST but who knew it was getting owned totally.
And btw WJJZ Smooth Jazz pwns, it's been around for years. W J J Z ONE OH SIX POINT WUH-UN
Yet I'd rather have the hawk around.
